Media dan Kuasa: Representasi Timpang Kaum Yahudi dan Muslim Dalam Film Schindler’s List dan The Kingdom
Abstract
This study aims at comparing how the Jews and the Muslims are portrayed in Spielberg’s Schindler’s List (1993) and Berg’s The Kingdom(2007). The discussion on the portrayal of the two communites in the study is based on Stuart Hall’s theory of the circuit of culture. The study shows that the unbalanced representation of the Jews and the Muslims in Hollywood film industry is inseparable from the bargaining power of the two ethnic groups in the majority-minority relation in the American social, political, and economic contexts
