This research aims at finding the preschool children’s social skills, the
appropriateness of the teacher-student interaction based on the mediated learning
experience (MLE), and the teachers’ mediating behavior. The subjects of
the study were selected based on the population study, namely 22 students of
Aisyiah B kindergarten. The data-collecting method was the scale of social
skills and MLE observation manual. The observation on the teacher-student
interaction was conducted on seven different occasions. The collected data
were analyzed by using statistical descriptive analysis. The result of the study
led to the following conclusions: (1) the social skills of preschool children
were medium, (2) the appropriateness of teacher-student interaction was high,
(3) teacher’s mediating behavior represented the variations of MLE criteria,
and (3) the circumstance that generated most criteria were prayer practice,
health exercise, and drawing lesson.
