Using A Role Playing Strategy In Collaboration With Active Debate For Developing Learning Interest In Civic Education Learning Process

The research specific aims to develop learning interest by using a role playing strategy in
collaboration with Active Debate in a Civic Education learning process of the Class-VIII students of
VIII SMP Juniro High School Prawira Marta Kabupaten Sukoharjo in 2015/2016. In the strategy
collaboration in a learning process greatly needs the students by using a role playing strategy in
collaboration with active debate, it will develop a learning activity. The performance indicator in the
study is developing the students’ learning interest in a Civic Education learning process of 80% of the
25 students. The students’ leaning interest development in a Civic Education learning process was
observed through the activity in expressing their opinions of a problem and could argue them so that
there was a debate. The results of the study show that using a role playing strategy in collaboration with
active debate could develop the students’ interest before a class-action research. The students who were
highly interested in learning of 10 students (40%); then the cycle I reached 15 students (60%), finally
the cycle II amounted to 21 students (84%). It indicates the achievement of the performance indicator
as stated in the early research (80%).
