dc.description.abstractA drug compounds can be obtained through synthesis by modifying the structure of potential. Gallic acid and cinnamaldehyde alleged to have potent antioxidant activity. If two compounds are combined is expected to form a compound that increase the activity by synergy rule. The synthesis involves reacting 5 mmol of gallic acid with 22 mmolcinnamaldehyde using concentrated sulfuric acid as catalyst. The mixtureof reactant was inserted to the microwave for 2 minutes. The product was stored in a temperature 8 ⁰ C for 24 hours to obtain a precipitate. The precipitate was dried and tested its melting point value, TLC and IR.The result of the melting point of the target molecule ranges from 124.7-183,2ºC showed that the product obtained is not pure. Results of thin layer chromatography and IR indicating the presence of a new compound that forms marked by the value of Rf 0.68 in the mobile phase of methanol:water (3: 1) in the reverse phase system and Rf 0.76 in the mobile phase n-hexane: ethyl acetate: methanol (4: 6: 20μL) in the normal phase system. The target compound had a specific marker peak ester group (C-O) at a frequency of 1249.87 and 1195.87 that were not represented by starting material. The results formed the yield of 76.35%. The results demonstrated that the (2E) -3- phenylprop-2-enoyl-3,4,5-trihydroxybenzoatecould be synthesized using microwave methodin_ID
