The manual of autobiography writing as learning material consists of main
manual and additional manual. On the one hand, the main manual contains: (a)
autobiography language. Language is set up in line with the habit of student language,
(b) a material of story, including: the background of the writer, the writer’s experience
during childhood, kindegarten, elementary school, junior high school, senior high school,
and higher education, (c) title fitted with the interest of each story presented by the
writer. After successfully completing the writing, the students are asked to read their own
writings before other people do. In addition, during the process of writing, the writer of
autobiography begins his writing chronologically ranging from kindegarten, elementary
school, junior high school, senior high school, and higher education.
On the other hand, the additional manual contains the number of vocabulary or
sentences determined by the target to be achieved and the writing of subheading is set up
according to the need. Syllabus of writing autobiography is not a subject but a material
to fill a subject of Composition. In the syllabus is stated a standard of competency saying
that a student is able to write autobiography. The syllabus containing six competencies is
prepared for six sessions. Besides, in the syllabus is stated the indicator, learning
experience, main material, method of teaching, and evaluation system.
