KAIDAH PERGESERAN TERJEMAHAN KATEGORI AJEKTIVA DAN ADVERBIA BAHASA INGGRIS KE BAHASA INDONESIA

Abstract

This paper purposes are to classify the translation variation, equivalence, and marker of English adjectives, adverbs and their Indonesian translations. Besides, it aims at classifying the translation shift rules of English adjective and adverb catagories into Indonesian. The data are English sentences containing adjectives and adverbs and their Indonesian translation. The data are colllected using content analysis of documents and in depth interview to the expert reader. The data are analyzed using equivalent and distributional methods. Based on the analyzed data, the findings show that, first, there are eight translation variations of adjectives and eight variations of adverbs, the translation is equivalent, and each word category has specific markers both in English and Indonesian. Secondly, there are eight translation shift rules of adjectives and five translation shift rules of adverbs.
