Lempuyang emprit (Zingiber amaricans Bl) is one of the plants species that contain secondary
metabolites that are important in diseases treatment. This study was conducted to determine the
secondary metabolites contained in the ethanol extract of lempuyang emprit from two regions
(Semarang and Yogyakarta) after derivatized and determine its zerumbone level. Metabolite
profile analysis performed by gas chromatography with mass spectroscopy detector, split
injection system, and helium as the mobile phase at a constant rate of 3.0 mL/min and
derivatized with BSTFA (N,O-bis-(trimetilsilil)-trifluoroasetamid). While zerumbone levels
determined by the same method but without derivatization. The results showed that there were
differences in secondary metabolite profiles of ethanol extract of lempuyang emprit from
Semarang and Yogyakarta, and the zerumbone levels also differ in the two extracts were
24.04% w/w (Semarang) and 30.32% w/w (Yogyakarta).
