    Abstract
Meniran (Phyllanthus niruri L) herbal extract had shown antihyperuricemia effect through uricosuric action. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of 200 mg/kg.bw extracts in increase the urine volume of hyperuricemic mice. This study was a quasi-experimental with a complete randomized block design. Fifteen mice were divided into 3 groups. Such as, normal group was given aqua pro injection 1 mL/20 g.bw (i.p) and distilled water with 0.5 mL/20g.bw (po), negative group was given 250 mg/kg potassium oxonate (i.p) and distilled water with 5 mL/20g.bw (p.o), treatment group was given 250 mg/kg.bw potassium oxonate (i.p) and 200 mg/ kg.bw extracts of meniran (p.o). Cumulative urine volume was measured at the 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 and 24 hour for 3 days. Volume of drinking and feed were accounted for 3 days. Data was analyzed with Kruskal-Wallis and Mann Whitney Test. The result showed that in negative group the urine volume produced was higher than the normal group (p = 0.007). Meanwhile, urine volume of others group was lower than negative control (p = 0.011). Based on the data, meniran extract could not increase the urine volume in hyperuricemia mice, aside from the extract can increase the urine volume in normal mice.
