    Abstract
Fluidized bed gasification is alternative reactor that used to convert biomass into syngas. One of the factor that can increase the performance of fluidized bed process is the size of particle. The aims of the research was to determine the eff ect of bed pa rticle size on the performan ce of bu bb ling fluidized bed reactor. This stud y used silica sand size of 360 µm, 46 0 µm, 550 µm. The experiments were performed on a gasification reactor with a diameter of 464.38 mm an d 13 68 .5 mm. The ga s p roduced is u sed to light the stove used to boil water an d then flame temperature and the temperature of water are measured as an indicator of reactor performan ce. The results showed a variation of 360 µm silica sand temperature combu stion ob tained the highest average for 30 7,5oC, time ef fective flame for 90 minutes, time to boil the water for 22 minutes and the thermal eff iciencyof reactor of 9.81%. Variations size of 460 µm particle bed temperature combustion ob tained the highest average at 135oC, effective flame time for 110 minutes, time to bo il water for 52 minutes and the reactor thermal eff iciency of 11.04%. Variations size of 550 µm silica sand temperature combustion ob tained the highest average for 169,5oC, time ef fective flame for 112 minutes, time to bo il water for 40 minutes and the rea ctor thermal eff iciency of 9.68%.
