Pengaruh Kedalaman Pin (Depth Plunge) terhadap Kekuatan Sambungan Las Pada Pengelasan Gesek Al.5083
Abstract
Friction stir welding (fsw) is a welding method that takes benefit of the hea t released by the friction of two metals. The objective of this work was to investigate the effect of depth plun ge on the ph ysical an d mecha nical properties of double sided friction stir welding. The experiment was carried ou t using vertical milling machine on the material of Al 508 3 with size of 200 x 100 x 3 mm. The ro tation al speed of sp indle wa s 12 50 rpm, the sp eed of feeding was 12,5 mm/mnt, and the pin depth variations were 0,9 mm, 1,9 mm and 2,9 mm. The results showed that the maxi mum tensile stress ob tained in the depth plunge of 1,9 mm was 177 ,78 MPa. The Vick ers test showed that the hardness of weld zone was lower than that of the base metal, but the lowest hardness was found in the HAZ. The joining area showed a good adhesion, but the void defect was obtained in the prod uct welded using a depth plunge of 2,9 mm. In the st ir zone, the grain size of the phase became smaller.
