Sepuluh Tahun Hasil Penelitian Bahan Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement di Pusat Studi Transportasi UMS
Abstract
Reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) is material generated from milling process of road pavement that have been damaged. The energy and environment crisis issues push the usage this materials more frequent. Considering the importance of RAP material causes every single research to explore the properties of RAP becomes very demanding. This paper discusses the progress of research result conducted in Centre of Transportation Studies Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta for the end of 10 years. The discussion is divided 4 steps, i.e.: (a) performance of RAP stabilized with foamed bitumen, (b) development laboratory equipment for pavement, (c) policy of the use of RAP for road in Indonesia, (d) comprehensive properties of RAP collected from Pantura road. The overall results can be described as follow. RAP material is excellent for use as a pavement material. RAP material stabilized with foamed bitumen and Portland cement exhibit very good performance. It is noted that gradation is a key for RAP performance to increase density and CBR value. Centre for Transportation Studies UMS was therefore designed and built mixer and roller compactor laboratory equipment to support researches incorporated with RAP
materials. It is recommended to conduct workshop and dissemination events in order to enhance understanding of RAP properties for engineers in Indonesia. , .
