    Use Of Heuristic Strategies To Increase The Ability Of Mathematical Problem Solving

    Abstract
    Problem solving and reasoning to be one of the main objectives in math learning program. Heuristics is a step-by-step Troubleshooter guides the public in finding solutions to problems. According to Schoenfeld (1980), "Heuristic will be used here to mean a general suggestion or strategy, independent of any particular topic or subject that metter, that helps problem solver approach and understand a problem and efficiently marshal their resources to solve it." This research includes qualitative research involving 25 student education courses math University Ahmad Dahlan in Yogyakarta. The data collected from the observation of classes and reflection journal participants in College matrices. The giving of instructions in the form of a question that leads to how to solve math problems that are given as a heuristic strategy used. Data analysis using qualitative analysis to see the changes that occur from heuristic strategy used against the student's ability in solving problems. The results showed that use of heuristic strategies, namely with the giving of the instructions in the troubleshooting can improve results/performance of students in mathematical problem solving. Pemecahan masalah dan penalaran menjadi salah satu tujuan utama dalam program pembelajaran matematika. Heuristik adalah suatu langkah-langkah umum yang memandu pemecah masalah dalam menemukan solusi masalah. Menurut Schoenfeld (1980), ”Heuristic will be used here to mean a general suggestion or strategy, independent of any particular topic or subject metter, that helps problem solver approach and understand a problem and efficiently marshal their resources to solve it.” Penelitian ini termasuk penelitian kualitatif yang melibatkan 25 mahasiswa program studi pendidikan matematika Universitas Ahmad Dahlan di Yogyakarta. Data dikumpulkan dari observasi kelas dan refleksi jurnal peserta pada kuliah Aljabar Matriks. Pemberian petunjuk dalam bentuk pertanyaan yang mengarah kepada bagaimana cara menyelesaikan masalah matematika yang diberikan sebagai strategi heuristik yang digunakan. Analisis data menggunakan analisis kualitatif untuk melihat perubahan yang terjadi dari strategi heuristik yang digunakan terhadap kemampuan mahasiswa dalam menyelesaikan masalah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan strategi heuristik, yaitu dengan pemberian petunjuk dalam penyelesaian masalah dapat meningkatkan hasil/ kinerja mahasiswa dalam penyelesaian masalah matematika.
