    Abstract
    This study focus on methodology thinking of Islamic Muhammadiyah since the beginning up to Muhammadiyah was developed to be a big organization. This study used history approach to observe the development of Islamic thinking methodology in Muhammadiyah. Also, it used critical approach to analyze material and content that covered by that Islamic thinking methodology seen from Islamic thinking resources, Al-Qur’an, Sunnah, Salaf and khalaf thinking area. The study result showed that the main resource of Islamic teaching in Muhammadiyah view are Al-Qur’an and Al-Sunnah, while the other resources such as Ijma, qiyas, and ijtihad result ulemas as the means that needed in translating Al-Qur’an and Al-Sunnah. This understanding is in line with salafus shalih manhaj in taking law establishing. In addition, Muhammadiyah thinking methodology, that stressed commitment to Al-Qur’an and Al-Sunnah by understanding salafus shalih, showed the seriousness of Muhammadiyah for establishing Islamic values in every sector of living. It means that Muhammadiyah will not trapped in absorbing thinking without action, finally created the liberal thinking that cross over with Islam itself.
