The effects of pavement temperature on pavement modulus, particularly the asphalt layer modulus, are quite apparent. In the analytical design method, the effects of pavement temperature can be taken into account in term of design temperature factor, as that proposed by the Nottingham method. Alternatively as proposed by the Asphalt Institute method, Miner’s theory can also be applied to calculate pavement thickness design directly that satisfies the cumulative effects of pavement modulus variation. For this purpose, traffic loading spectrum across the pavement temperature differences ought to be known. A research had been conducted to determine design temperature factor from FWD deflection data measured four times in the morning, afternoon, evening and in the night within the same day. Pavement modulus values were estimated from back calculation processes on the FWD deflection data. This paper outlines the analytical design procedure based on the Nottingham method by using program PastDean employing the calculated design temperature factor and the Miner’s theory, respectively. It was found that the remaining life of the existing pavement structure being analyzed would be dictated by the fatigue cracking criterion, and the resulting design temperature factor was 1.55. Further analysis is then presented to simulate hypothetically the design temperature factor suitable for permanent deformation criterion.en_US
