MUHAMMADIYAH DAN KEPEMIMPINAN POLITIK PEREMPUAN (Respons Muhammadiyah atas Tampilnya Presiden Megawati Soekarnoputri)

Abstract

This research aims at describing the response of Muhammadiyah to female political leadership, especially to the presidency of Megawati Soekarnoputri as the fifth president of Republic of Indonesia. In so doing, this research employs historical method, heuristic, critics or selection of sources, interpretation, and historiography. The results of the research are as follows: (1) whether in terms of organization or its individual members, Muhammadiyah never opposes female political leadership; (2) in its response to the presidency of Megawati Soekarnoputri, Muhammadiyah concerns more in the required qualities of a presidential candidate rather than the gender controversy.
