dc.description.abstractLarutan elektrolit merupakan materi kimia yang melibatkan konsep abstrak, fenomena kimia, operasi matematika dan kegiatan praktikum. Karakteristik materi tersebut menimbulkan konsekuensi bahwa siswa harus mempunyai beberapa kemampuan agar mampu mempelajarinya dengan baik. Kemampuan yang diperlukan diantaranya kemampuan berpikir ilmiah, kemampuan pemahaman representasi kimia, kemampuan matematika, dan kemampuan praktikum. Berdasarkan beberapa penelitian ke empat kemampuan tersebut masih belum dimiliki oleh sebagian besar siswa sehingga materi larutan elektrolit dianggap sulit dan berpengaruh pada konstruksi model mental siswa. Tingkat model mental siswa dipengaruhi oleh tingkat kemampuan berpikir ilmiahnya dan gambaran model mental siswa dapat diketahui melalui kemampuan pemahaman representasi yang dimiliki siswa. Ananilis model mental siswa perlu dilakukan untuk melihat gambaran model mental siswa dalam memahami konsep-konsep kimia. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui jenis dan hubungan model mental dengan kemampuan berpikir ilmiah siswa.in_ID
